Cheryl VollmerRecent Projects A Hungry Lion in My Tummy Projects or Proposals Offered A book of short stories applying to youth's situations. A series to Hungry Lion. Searchable Keywords children, health, preschool, diet Specialties or Categories of Interest children/youth stories that inform, benefit. Fictional with lesson. From The Book There is a hungry lion in my tummy. He is starting to roar. What should I feed him? Maybe I should feed him a banana? A banana will keep his muscles springy so he can jump, twist and exercise. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. What about some honey for quick energy? The lion will need energy to hunt. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. After that gooey mouth from the honey he'll need some milk. Milk will keep his bones strong. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. If I feed him carrots, it will keep his eyes healthy. He needs good eyes so he can see what is sneaking around in the grass. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. What about juicy fruits to help keep the colds away? The lion doesn't want to be sick with a cold. He wants to play and practice his roar. Maybe I'll feed him an orange, cantaloupe, strawberry, kiwi and a peach. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. I could feed him some nuts to give him protein and make him strong. What about walnuts, pecans, cashews, Brazils, almonds and peanuts? But that's not enough for a hungry lion. How about some sprigs of parsley which will sweeten the lion's stinky breath and keep him healthy? But that's not enough for a hungry lion. If I feed him sunflower seeds, his body will be able to heal when he gets cuts and scrapes. He'll also have salty lips. Salty lips will make him lick his face and then he will have a clean face. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. How about a crispy apple to clean his long, dirty teeth since he can't use a toothbrush? If he doesn't keep his teeth clean, it could make him sick, and then his teeth could fall out, and he won't be able to chew. But that's not enough for a hungry lion. I can't forget to feed him vegetables so his body can fight germs like a strong warrior. I'll get some broccoli, asparagus, spinach and peas. And maybe some squash, green beans, lettuce, cauliflower, corn and sweet potato. Is that enough for a hungry lion? I know what to do for this hungry lion in my tummy! I'll feed him a little of everything: one banana, two spoonfuls of honey, three pours of milk, four carrots, five pieces of juicy fruit, six nuts, seven sprigs of parsley, eight sunflower seeds, nine bites of apple and ten bites of vegetables. Now that he has had little bites of all these good foods, he will be a strong, healthy and clean lion. Shhh, listen, the hungry lion has silenced his roar. His tummy is full. He can't eat anymore.
