Jamie Freveletti debuts with RUNNING FROM THE DEVIL
(William Morrow/HarperCollins)
, heart pounding thriller

A race against evil . . .

Emma Caldridge, a chemist for a cosmetics company, is en route from Miami to Bogotá when her plane is hijacked and spins out of control into the mountains near the Venezuelan border. Thrown unhurt from the wreckage, she can do nothing but watch as guerrillas take the other passengers hostage.

Jamie Freveletti is a trial attorney, runner, and martial artist. She has crewed for an elite ultramarathon runner at 50 mile, 100 mile, and 24-hour races across the country, and she both practices and teaches aikido, a Japanese martial art. After attending law school, she lived in Geneva, Switzerland, while obtaining a diploma in International Studies. In Chicago, she has represented clients in areas ranging from class actions for mass salmonella poisoning to securities fraud.

Freveletti lives in Chicago with her family.

She's already gaining praise from the pros:

"Just terrific—full of thrills and tradecraft, pace and peril. An outstanding debut."

— Lee Child, New York Times bestselling author of NOTHING TO LOSE
"Ten pages in, my heart was pounding—and the tension only grew from there. This is a breathless, hair-raising read, one of the most gripping thrillers I’ve read in a long, long time."
— Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author of The Keepsake
