Grand Central Editor-in-Chief Deb Futter showcases
four new releases on the publisher's 2008 Winter list

NEW YORK, NY (Authorlink/AAP, Nov. 1, 2008)--Deb Futter, VP, Editor in Chief, Grand Central Publishing, is interviewed by the Association of American Publishers as part of its Book Editors Online & Unscripted series in which editors talk about their seasonal book picks. Here, Ms. Futter discusses four newly-released and upcoming titles for this Winter. The AAP  is the trade association for about 260 U.S. publishers of all sizes.

Deb Futter was named Vice President, Editor-in-Chief, Hardcovers, Grand Central Publishing, in January 2008 by Jamie Raab, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Grand Central Publishing. Most recently, Ms. Futter was Vice President and Deputy Editorial Director at Doubleday. Her authors there included Steve Martin, Roz Chast, Christina Schwarz, and Katie Couric as well as Jennifer Finney Boylan, Pete Dexter, Chitra Divakaruni, Karen Essex, Sebastian Faulks, Connie May Fowler, Jane Hamilton, Sheridan Hay, Abigail Pogrebin, and Penny Vincenzi. Prior to her tenure at Doubleday, she was Vice President and Executive Editor at Random House, where she edited, among others, Peter Matthiessen, Patrick McGrath, and Deborah Tannen. Earlier, she was Executive Editor at Doubleday, working with such authors as Peggy Orenstein and Grace Mirabella. She began her publishing career in 1982 as an assistant at Bantam Books, ultimately co-founding the Bantam New Fiction imprint as well as running the Bantam Classics program and editing hardcovers for the general list. In 1987, she won the Tony Godwin Award and then spent six weeks working at Bloomsbury in London. The interview was recorded in late September 2008 by the AAP’s Tina Jordon. Chapter excerpts of the titles Futter mentions, plus others, will be available at http://publishers.webex.com
