Long Journey to Getting Published
Pays Off Big for Brett Battles

An exclusive Authorlink VIDEO Interview
September/October 2008

Length: About 18 minutes

Brett Battles, author of THE CLEANER and THE DECEIVED (Dell 2008), talks
to Authorlink about his long and sometimes difficult road to landing an incredible three-book deal.

Brett Battles' journey to becoming published wasn't easy. After many years of effort, he landed a small publisher, Ugly Town, for his debut novel, The Cleaner. When the publisher folded, he thought he was finished as an author. Through a series of fortunate circumstances, he secured a handsome three-book deal with Dell, a division of Random House, Inc. Brett won rave reviews for The Cleaner, which introduced the series hero Jonathan Quinn. His strong sequel, The Deceived, has been called "unputdownable." Anne Hawkins of John Hawkins & Associates is his agent. In this video interview, recorded in New York this past summer, Brett advises new writers to "keep growing your skills and moving forward."
