A Merry Band of Murderers is an original mystery anthology of songs and stories. The unusual book is packaged with a CD of original songs composed and performed by the 13 authors themselves. Edited by Claudia Bishop and Don Bruns, the book features award-winning authors and musicians such as Jim Fusilli, Rupert Holmes, John Lescroart, Jeffery Dever, and more. Fusilli is the award-winning author of the Terry Orr series and he writes for the Wall Street Journal. Holmes is a two-time "Tony" and two-time "Edgar" award winner. Lescroart is a New York Times bestselling author of 17 novels, and Dever is also a bestselling author. All but one of the 13 anthology authors both composed and performed their own songs for the CD. "Why did Poisoned Pen Press publish A Merry Band of Murderers?," says Publisher and President Robert Rosenwald, "That's a damned good question since we don't publish anthologies . . . I must admit that the opportunity to publish works by such an incredible group of talented writers was irresistible." Rosenwald and his wife, Barbara Peters, are respected in the industry as a small publisher, specializing in mysteries. Here the book's co-editor, Don Bruns, talks with Authorlink about how he and Claudia conceived the project, and their journey in getting it published. —Doris Booth |
