Fate, if we may pun, has moved Brad Meltzer to the top of the New York Times Bestseller List. On the other hand, his success as an author has involved hard work, dedication, and the good luck of having a passionate publishing team at Warner Books. For his latest work, The Book of Fate, he even had a little help in the research from President George Bush and former President Clinton. The Book of Fate flew to #1 on the Times list in late September 2006, just shortly after its release. The title joins other Meltzer books on the Times list, including The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires, and The Zero Game. Meltzer now has a total of almost six million books in print, and his work has been translated into a dozen or more languages. He's also the number one selling author of the critically acclaimed comic book, Identity Crisis. And Diamond Comics Distributors listed his newest comic book, Justice League of America, on its top 100 sales chart for October. Brad's talent extends to the small screen, too. He is one of the co-creators of the TV show, Jack & Bobby. In this Authorlink exclusive audio interview, Brad talks about why The Book of Fate has become so wildly popular, and what he thinks it takes to be a good writer. —Doris Booth |
